Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, a pivotal moment in American history marking the end of slavery in the United States. On this day in 1865, news of freedom finally reached the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
At the Metro South Association of REALTORS®, we recognize the significance of Juneteenth as a day of reflection, education, and celebration of Black resilience, culture, and contributions to our society. We stand in solidarity with our Black members, colleagues, and communities, reaffirming our commitment to equity, justice, and inclusion in the real estate industry.
